Service overview

## Interior Airless Spraying: What You Need to Know

### What the service is
Airless spraying uses a high-pressure pump to atomise paint and apply it through a fine spray tip, without compressed air. On interiors we use it for walls and ceilings, laying down an even film of paint far more quickly than a roller, then back-roll or finish where needed for a consistent texture.

### Who it is for
Owners of new-build and newly plastered homes, anyone with large open-plan spaces or high ceilings, landlords turning properties around between tenancies, and commercial clients (offices, warehouses, shops) where downtime needs to be as short as possible.

### When it makes sense
Spraying comes into its own on empty or near-empty rooms, whole-house redecorations, large areas of fresh plaster that need mist and finish coats, and ceilings where rolling overhead is slow and tiring.

### Why a professional matters
Spray equipment is fast, but only in trained hands. Getting the right tip, pressure and paint consistency, masking thoroughly and controlling overspray is what separates a smooth, even finish from a mess. Done badly, spraying wastes paint and coats windows, floors and fittings.

The cost of waiting

## What Happens If You Leave It

On large jobs, the method you choose affects time, cost and the finish you end up living with.

-
### Projects drag on for weeks
Rolling a whole house or a large commercial space by hand takes many days. Every extra day is more disruption, and on commercial jobs it can mean lost trading.

-
### Visible roller marks and flashing
On big walls and under strong light, lap marks and uneven sheen show clearly. Spraying lays down a more uniform film.

-
### New plaster left unsealed
Delaying the mist coat on new plaster leaves it exposed to dust and marks and holds up everything else in the build.

-
### Tenancy or move-in dates missed
Void periods cost landlords money, and slow decorating can push back moving in.

### Common mistakes we see

- Hiring cheap spray equipment and learning on your own walls.
- Under-masking, leaving overspray on windows, floors, sockets and fittings.
- Spraying paint at the wrong consistency, causing runs or poor coverage.
- Assuming spraying suits every job; occupied, fully furnished rooms are often quicker to roll.
- Skipping preparation because spraying is quick; filling and sanding still matter.

Our process

## Five Steps From Quote to Finished Job

- 01
### Free visit and quote
We look at the space, confirm whether spraying is the right method and give you a clear price.

- 02
### Preparation
Surfaces are filled, sanded and cleaned. New plaster is checked to make sure it is dry enough to paint.

- 03
### Full masking
Windows, doors, floors, sockets, switches and fittings are covered and sealed so overspray has nowhere to go.

- 04
### Spraying
Ceilings and walls are sprayed with the correct tip and pressure, back-rolled where needed, and built up coat by coat.

- 05
### De-mask, inspect and guarantee
Masking comes off, edges are checked, any touch-ups done by hand, and the job is covered by our 1-year guarantee.

In detail

## Interior Airless Spraying: Materials, Methods & Situations

Airless spraying is a method, not a shortcut. Here is where it works best and how we use it.

### New-build and fresh plaster
New plaster needs a mist coat to seal it, followed by finish coats. Spraying handles large areas of bare plaster quickly and evenly, and gets them sealed before dust and marks settle in.

### Ceilings and high walls
Rolling ceilings is slow and prone to spatter. Spraying from the floor or from low access keeps coverage consistent across the whole ceiling and cuts the time spent working overhead.

### Open-plan and large rooms
The bigger the uninterrupted wall, the harder it is to avoid visible lap marks with a roller. Spraying keeps a wet edge across the whole surface for a uniform result.

### Paints we spray
Most trade emulsions, including mist-coat and contract matt paints, spray well when correctly thinned and applied with the right tip. We match the product and tip to the surface and the finish you want.

### When rolling is better
In a fully furnished, occupied room with lots of edges and fixtures, the time spent masking can outweigh the time saved spraying. We will tell you honestly which method suits your job.

### Residential versus commercial
Homes benefit most on whole-house and new-build jobs. Commercial spaces (offices, units, retail) gain the most from reduced downtime, and we can schedule work out of hours, 7 days a week, 7am to 9pm.

Local to you

## Interior Airless Spraying Across Basingstoke & Beyond

We are based in Basingstoke and carry out interior airless spraying for homes and businesses across Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and Wiltshire. Being local means we can visit to quote quickly, plan work around the weather and your diary, and keep the job moving without long gaps between visits.

From terraced houses and new-build estates to period properties, offices and commercial units, the properties in this part of the South vary a lot. Older homes often need more preparation and filling, while newer homes tend to need careful work on fresh plaster and modern materials. We assess each job on its own terms and tell you plainly what it needs before we start.

Because we work 7 days a week, from 7am to 9pm, it is easier to book work in at a time that suits you, including evenings and weekends when you are at home, or outside trading hours for businesses.

Who does the work

## A Family-Run Business

Centurion Decorating is run by Paul Mead, who was trained in the trade by his dad and has now been decorating for 24 years. Both of Paul's sons work alongside him full-time.

That matters when you are letting someone into your home or business. We take care over preparation and finish, and if you have a question you can ask Paul directly.

Every job is fully insured with £5 million public liability cover and comes with a 1-year guarantee as standard. Quotes are always free, with no obligation, so the only thing it costs you to find out is a phone call to 07717 774411. You can also see everything we do on our homepage or send us the details of your job.

FAQ

## Interior Airless Spraying Questions

### Is airless spraying more expensive than rolling?
+Not necessarily. Masking takes time, but the painting itself is much faster, so on larger spaces the overall cost is often similar or lower. Your free quote will set out the price clearly.

### How much faster is spraying?
+On large, empty areas it is significantly quicker to apply the paint than rolling. The exact saving depends on how much masking the space needs.

### Will overspray get on my floors and windows?
+Not when it is masked properly. Everything that is not being painted is covered and sealed before we start.

### Can you spray a room that is still furnished?
+Sometimes, but it is best suited to empty or near-empty spaces. For furnished rooms we may recommend rolling instead.

### Is the quote for interior airless spraying free?
+Yes. Every quote is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. You get a clear price before any work starts, so you can decide in your own time.

### Are you insured?
+Yes. Centurion Decorating carries £5 million public liability insurance, so your home, furniture and property are protected while we work.

### Is the work guaranteed?
+Every job comes with a 1-year guarantee as standard. If something we did is not right, we come back and put it right.

### Can you work evenings or weekends?
+Yes. We work 7 days a week, from 7am to 9pm, so we can fit around work, school runs or business opening hours. Call 07717 774411 and we will find a slot that suits you.
